Book Synopsis

Become the Lighthouse is a powerful exploration of emotional regulation in the moments that matter most—when life feels overwhelming, unpredictable, and out of our control.
For years, many of us were taught to push emotions aside. To “man up.” To stay strong. To fix problems instead of feeling them. But what happens when the storm doesn’t stop?
Drawing from deeply personal experiences as a father, leader, and man navigating high-pressure environments, Tim Purkis shares the lessons he learned the hard way—through anxiety, uncertainty, and the struggle to cope in healthy ways.
At the heart of this book is a simple but transformative idea:
You can’t control the storm.
But you can become the lighthouse.
Through real stories, practical tools, and accessible mindfulness techniques, Become the Lighthouse teaches you how to:
Whether you’re a father trying to support your children, a leader navigating constant demands, or simply someone seeking more peace in a chaotic world, this book offers a new way forward.

Not by avoiding the storm—
but by learning how to stand steady within it.

Meet the Author

Tim Purkis is an author and former enterprise sales leader focused on emotional regulation, leadership, and fatherhood.
With more than 25 years of experience in high-pressure, sales-driven environments—including over 15 years in leadership roles—Tim built and led high-performing teams across SaaS and telecommunications organizations, consistently exceeding revenue targets and driving strong team performance.
But behind the results was a reality many leaders know well: constant pressure, stress, and the expectation to always perform.
Some of Tim’s most important lessons didn’t come from hitting quota—they came from navigating those high-stress environments while also facing personal challenges as a father and learning, often the hard way, how to manage emotions in moments that truly mattered.
